Today in class, I bought a composition notebook and transferred my notes from yesterday into it. We also discussed the geography of Greece.
- Greece is considered a peninsula.
- Greece has opportunity to trade with many parts of Europe using the Mediterranean Sea.
- In Greece, there is not a lot of arable land that can be used for farming.
- There is also not enough food for everyone due to the mountains.
- The Greeks are considered water fearing people.
- Greece is surrounded by the Aegean Sea, Adriatic Sea, And the Ionian Sea.
- The island South of Greece is called Peloponnesus.
- The capital of Greece is Athens.
- Sparta is the capital of Peloponnesus.
- Crete is located South of Peloponnesus.
- Asia Minor is across the Aegean Sea from Greece.
- Macedonia is located North of Greece.
- Many people in Greece were good sailors and shipbuilders
- Greece is considered a mountainous peninsula.
- Three-fourths of Greece is mountainous.
- Greece has about 2000 island in the Aegean and Ionian Seas.
- The geographic of Greece shaped it's culture.
- Greece had many farmers, metal workers weavers, and potters.
- Greece was very limited on natural resources, which meant that they needed to trade.
- The terrain made uniting the Greeks difficult.
- Greece developed small, independent communities that they were loyal to.
- Greece is 2, 972 square miles smaller than North Carolina and 4,893 square miles bigger than Pennsylvania.
- Greece was small in size but, big in influence.
